The 16th China Yiwu International Commodities Fair and the the 3rd African Commodities Exhibition is held on Oct. 21, 2010 in Zhejiang Yiwu International Exhibition Centre. The theme of this Fair is “global sourcing, Yiwu orientation”. 5,000 booths were arranged, including 15 industries such as arts and crafts, electronic appliances, garments&shoes&hats,culture&office and other districts as the International Hall, the African Commodities Exhibition, Aboriginal Collaboration, National Women’s C.M.T. Goods Exhibition as well as the International Trade City, Binwang market etc., together 7 break-out rooms. For the first time this exhibition set up an e-commerce district. There will be 25 domestic e-business delegations to participate in.
In addition, the 3rd African Commodities Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Commerce is held concurrently with the Yiwu Fair. Compared with the previous two exhibitions, this one has larger scale with 218 booths and exhibitors from 29 African countries and regions such as Algeria, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire etc.
In recent years, relying on the unique market advantage, Yiwu has developed a new way of “encouraging exhibitions through trade and promoting trade through exhibitions” and was honored the most potential exhibition city in China, the most charming city and the best exhibition city. Yiwu will hold a range of more than 120 exhibitions and conferences annually and 15 well-known exhibition institutions have organized exhibitions in Yiwu, including the Yiwu Fair, Cultural Fair, Forest Fair and the Tourism Commodities Fair which have national ministries to attend.
Yiwu, where the 16th Yiwu Fair and the 3rd African Commodities Exhibition will be held is an emerging commercial and exhibition city with great attractiveness and affinity. It has the global largest small commodity wholesale market with the daily traffic of more than 200,000 and more than1,3000 dwelled foreign merchants. The 3rd African Commodities Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “African Exhibition”) will be held on the 16th China Yiwu International Commodities Fair. Till now the recruitment has been finished. There will be more than half of African countries and regions to attend the exhibiton. Compared with the former exhibitions, this one is a large improvement no matter in terms of scale or exhibits category.
A staff of Yiwu Exhibition Office said, “After a thorough consideration of the degree of internationalization of Yiwu Fair, foreign activity and other factors, the State Department of Commerce in particular arranged the 3rd African Commodities Exhibition be held in conjunction with Yiwu Fair 2010 in the purpose of expanding China’s imports from African countries to promote the healthy development of economic and trade relations between China and African countries.”
The African Pavilion has a total of 218 booths, including 200 booths for enterprises’ products and the rest 18 for trade talks.Of the 69 exhibitors, some are from Algeria, some are from Ethiopia and other countries and regions, including some of the local leading enterprises.
It is learned that all items on display are special African products with very strong geographical and cultural features and sell well in China and other regions in Asia. The category of goods on display is rich in sufficient amount, mainly covers handicrafts, wood carvings, leather goods, traditional clothing, copper, coffee, cashew nuts, cocoa beans, olive oil and so on with the addition of jewelry, minerals, precious stones, construction materials etc.
